Another Winter in Paradise
My second winter at Crescent Lake
The story so far: And so, after my second season as a camp host, I returned to the Crescent Junction RV Park, where I still live, for my second winter near the top of Oregon’s Cascades. I had determined that I was not going to do another season of camp hosting, and applied to the Census Bureau to do the 2020 census the following year.
I took no photos with my pro camera that winter; here are some phone shots that are significant to my story here.
One of the first things I did was film a Whiskey Jack aka Canadian Jay aka Camp Robber who came to visit me in camp (this RV park looks and feels more like a paved campground than an RV park). Part of this video is in slo-mo; I think you’ll like it:
They are remarkable birds. Very friendly, and no fear of humans. I like to give them something whenever they come by.
The snow came. It was another good snow year.
Pookie’s thick, fine fur became unmanageable and I had to take her in for a trim while it was still cold. She became best friends with the electric heater that I use during the winters up here.
Winter continued on. March arrived, and Pookie was getting tired of staying indoors. She was a Tennessee girl, and she didn’t really like snow.
I felt the same way. This was the year that COVID came, and we were all shut in that winter.
April came, and it was still winter. The people running the RV park took out a hazard tree. I went outside and filmed it.
