The native Tribes named this peak Wy’East and there are many native legends about him. The White Men renamed it Mt. Hood.
A stratovolcano, it is Oregon’s tallest peak and, since it is visible from Portland, Oregon’s best known. This view is from its east side, with a blanket of new snow, on US Hwy 26.
