I had built a small home photography studio in the living room that wasn’t big enough to shoot people, but was big enough for pets.
The neighbors had a purebred Australian Shepherd puppy. I asked if I could photograph him.
On New Year’s Day of 2009, we got him and brought him over to the house. My lady kept him entertained while I rigged lights and did the shooting. He might have been the cutest model I’ve ever shot. We completely wore him out: his owners reported that he slept for hours after we brought him back.
At the end of the session, I lifted a stray cat I had rescued two nights before onto the table, to see whether I could photograph her. She was in a strange new home, spent all of her time hiding behind the couch, and was pretty guarded, but she posed well.
You will see many photos of her here that I took through the years. She was the best cat I ever had. She passed away a year ago at the age of 82 in cat years.
Oh little Pookie, I still have a hard time thinking you are no longer with us, well perhaps you are but we can't see you. Thanks for sharing your love with my friend, you still maintain a special place in all our hearts. Rest peacefully in Kittyland, it was a pleasure to have known you.
